The Literati - Report on the Workshop on Micro Fiction

Date: 16 February 2018                    Time: 12:00 p.m. – 01:30 p.m.
Venue: Room No 105, Central Block
Guest Speaker: Mr. Sudeep Pagedar

A workshop on Micro Fiction was conducted by ‘The Literati’ – The English Students Association of the Department of English. The venue was set for the much awaited, Micro Fiction Workshop.

The audience rose as the speaker of the day, Mr. Sudeep Pagedar walked in. He began his presentation with a simple definition of micro Fiction (one which isn't nano or macro). The rest of the session was focused on what really goes into this upcoming form of writing - the principle of show don't tell, using the linear narrative story method etc. The learning experience was further aided with examples, discussions on "good micro fiction" and lastly, intense hands on exercises to get a grip to the form.

Along with giving the audience a platform to share their own pieces of work, the workshop also enabled the participants to get a peek into the business aspect of writing, today and the how to get the most out of 'User Generated Content'.

All in all, the interactive session gave a fulfilling experience to the participants and some food for thought for the speaker as well.

We would love to have more of such workshops solely for the exposure it provides to the students and the valuable assets it brings to their skill set.
